Lodging tax of Münster

The city of Münster decided on 1 July 2016 to levy an extra tax on all private hotel stays at 4.5% of the published price, without breakfast (including tax). The hotel is obliged to collect the lodging tax of every guest staying overnight privately and paid over to the city of Münster. In business led nights the accommodation tax is levied by the presentation of a certificate from the employer. Considered sufficient for this are, for example, an informal confirmation from the employer, stating the name and date of birth of the employee and the accommodation period, or the booking confirmation to the employer or the occurrence of the employer as invoice addressee. In addition, a form of the city of Münster must be completed to confirm the exemption from the lodging tax in the territory of the city of Münster. This form is available at the hotel or in advance via email. If the Business traveller does not provide such a certificate upon arrival, the City tax must be raised by the Hotel.
