Christmas Market in Münster
Christmas Market in Münster
When Münster's old town turns into a sparkling sea of lights during Advent, our Cityhotel Amadeus is just a few minutes' walk away: around Prinzipalmarkt and the surrounding squares of the old town, six Christmas markets take place with more than 250 lovingly decorated stalls.
Dates & Opening Hours
Münster's Christmas markets run from 23 November to 23 December 2026. A few markets (such as the Lichtermarkt at St. Lamberti and the Giebelhüüskesmarkt) traditionally close one or two days earlier. Opening hours are generally Sunday to Thursday 11am–8pm, and Friday & Saturday until 9pm. The city of Münster publishes the exact dates for each market every autumn.
The Six Christmas Markets at a Glance
Rathaus (Town Hall) – On the Platz des Westfälischen Friedens in the town hall courtyard, Münster's largest and oldest Christmas market welcomes you under a romantic canopy of lights, with jewellery and craft stalls, a nostalgic children's carousel and culinary treats.

A Personal Tip from Our Hotel Director
“My Christmas market tip for you: stroll through the Christmas market at St. Lamberti Church – and then enjoy a proper Westphalian meal at the Altes Gasthaus Leve, Münster's oldest inn (since 1607). To me, that's the true Münster Advent feeling!”
Sebastian Schauff, Hotel Director

Parking During Christmas Market Season
During the Christmas market season, public parking garages in Münster's city centre are regularly full — on weekends, visitors sometimes have to wait several hours for a free space. We therefore recommend our guests simply park at our own hotel car park (€18 per day) and enjoy just a short walk to the Christmas market.
